At Merritts Brook, we value the importance of learning beyond the classroom. As such, we offer a range of rich and broad activities which enable our pupils to learn and practise skills which will prepare them for later life.

Forest School –

Learning beyond the classroom…

Can you guess which historical period we are looking at?

Special visitors are always welcome – Ash Randall – World Record Holding football freestyler came to the academy to talk to us about ambition. He showed us many skills which we were able to replicate.

We provide a range of opportunities for visitors to visit the Academy or for pupils to go on educational visits outside of the Academy. These are linked to the learning which takes place in each year group and children will make use of the educational visits in their subsequent learning.

We also visit different places of worship throughout the school; providing pupils with opportunities to see how different religions and faiths worship and developing pupils mutual respect and tolerance of those with and without religious faith.

Immersive learning!

Musical opportunities such as drumming and ukulele take place regularly across school. We enjoy experiences KES Outreach to grow our cultural knowledge and experience base.

Museum trips, artists and residence and a bespoke art curriculum are what we provide at MBA. Our artist in residence is Mark who teaches the children about working as a team to perform collaboratively. The children in all years groups will be able to learn about African drums and end with a final performance.
