Personal development involves knowledge, attitudes, skills, relationships and behaviour that can be utilised in and outside the classroom.

At Merritts Brook we believe that the personal development of our pupils is fundamental to what we do. We encourage the children to BELIEVE in themselves and we build confidence. We actively encourage the children to ASPIRE , to aim high and THINK BIG. WE believe that all pupils and EXCEED in some aspect of life and that difference is something to actively celebrate.

We encourage the children to BE THE BEST VERSION OF YOU  Рin everything that the children do in their work and in their behaviour  Рto show kindness, consideration and respect at all times.

Pupils at Merritts Brook behave well. We have high expectations and the children rise to meet them, thus having a positive impact on their learning behaviour and attitude.

Personal development is planned for and mapped across the school from EYFS when the children learn how to become safety inspector and to keep themselves safe , through whole school enrichment days when the children are immersed in being a global citizen , to year through the roles of prefects, consolidation of the understanding of responsibility and commitment.

Children at Merritts Brook enjoy coming to school, subsequently having a positive impact upon attendance. Our pupils have positive attitudes and there is a tangible sense of pride throughout. The academy value of RESILIENCE is a golden thread and is actively encouraged, and rewarded in our Friday celebration assembly.
