Merritts Brook Academy is proud to be a silver accredited rights respecting school. Learning about rights, through rights and for rights enables the whole school community to come together to discuss and engage with local, national and global issues.
As part of our work, our ambassadors meet with staff, governors and our local MP to debate issues linked to children accessing their rights in order to facilitate purposeful change. Within this work, we also consider human rights and we can ensure that everyone is accessing them. Topics such as dignity, equality and equity feature throughout.
Children see themselves as rights respecting global citizens and advocates for fairness and children’s rights, both locally and globally
Currently, we are working towards our Gold Accreditation. We welcome comments, discussion and support from everyone, so if you would like to get involved then get in touch with Mr McDermott or your child’s teacher. We always love to hear about the work and discussions that you are having at home, so remember to share this with your class teacher through your year group’s Google Classroom account or you can tweet us @merrittsbrook on twitter.
